Pool Rules

  1. Pick the winners of each game by entering a rank from 16 down to 1 or 3 (depending on how games are played each week).
  2. Current Vegas lines, some time between Tuesday morning and Wednesday, will be used. The team with the (-x ½) must win by more than that number of points. A ½ point will be added to all lines (so there's a winner for every game).
  3. Calculate totals to make sure you have entered correctly. You are responsible for checking your picks.
  4. Send your picks by pressing the send button. If there is an error, you will see an error message and receive an email. Some errors will prevent the sie form saving ALL picks. Others will only not save the errored pick.
  5. After picking, check that your name is yellow on the Picks In board. You may then print a copy of the page for reference (screenshot or save as PDF is he best option).
  6. Picks must be sent at least an hour before the kickoff of the first game of each week. (Keep track of weeks with Thursday and Saturday night games). Missed entries for the first missed game will automatically register 3 points to the home team. If you do not enter picks at all that week, you will not get those points. If you missed the second and thirds games, you lose the games missed (8 points for second game missed game, 9 for third, 7 for fourth missed, etc.). Once the pool has been closed for the week, no changes can be made to already entered picks. For each game you pick correctly, you will receive the number of points you ranked for that pick.
  7. If you do not get your picks in at all, you will receive the lowest score of those who played for that week. If you enter less than 4 picks and don't get the rest of your picks in before kickoff, those 1-3 picks will be deleted and you will receive the lowest score (this is for your own benefit).
  8. There are two ways to win:
    a. The person with the highest number of points wins the week. Sidebet points are not included to determine the weekly winner. Sidebet points are not included in the “total” column for weekly results but are shown separately in their own column.
    b. There will also be a first, second and third place winner at the end of the season. Sidebet points are included to determine the year-end winners. Sidebet points earned/lost are included in the Current Ranks Totals amount.
  9. The pool will close approximately one hour before kickoff. If all picks are not in, the pool may remain open until 15 minutes before kickoff.

    Monday Night Bonus

Two to three times during the year a cash bonus will be given to the person who picks the winning team and has the closest score of the Monday Night game. The winner is determined by the difference between his guess and the actual final score for both teams. He must have picked the winner to get the bonus.

    Example:
Actual Final score: Seattle 27- Miami 20
    Huey's guess: 24-14
    Fernando's guess: 36-20
    Beatrice's guess: 27-10
    All three picked Seattle to win. Huey's difference is 9 (3+6), Fernando's is 9 (9+0) and Beatrice's is 10 (0+10).
Huey and Fernando are closest, but the tie goes to Huey since he was closest to the winning team's score. Beatrice, having a 10 point difference, is third - even though she picked the exact winning team's score.

  10. Weekly Tiebreakers:

Highest top-ranked games picked. Did players pick their 16 point game correctly, 15, 14, down until someone missed a game. Like a tie in poker.

Season Tiebreakers: Most weekly wins is the first tiebreaker. In the event of an equal number of weekly wins, the most head to head wins (over 17 weeks) is the second tiebreaker. If that too is a tie, we flip a coin.

    Side Bets:

Side bets can be placed between any two players with a maximum of 10 points to be bet by each player weekly. The loser of the bet will have the number of points bet transferred automatically to the winner of the bet.

There are two types of side bets: Single Game and Week High.

Single Game: In single game side bets, the challenger picks a player to challenge and a team in a game being held that week. The point spread is taken into account when calculating the winner.
Week High: Bet against another player in the pool to see who will have the higher week score for that particular week. Ties push. Both players must have entered all picks for that week, otherwise, the bet is cancelled.

Upon submitting bet invitation, your form will be emailed to the person invited. He will then have to confirm the invitation in order for the bet to be calculated. As soon as the bet has been confirmed, you will receive an email and the bet will be registered in the pool. The points will be calculated at the end of the week.

Cancelling Side Bets: Bet invitations and confirmed Side Bets are final. Pending Side Bets that have not been confirmed by the closing of the pool will be cancelled. Once an invitation for a bet has been sent out, only the player invited may reject the bet. If you send out an invitation and would like it cancelled, you may email the player invited and ask him to reject or ignore the bet.
Side bets are not calculated for weekly totals and do not count for week wins. But they are included in the overall totals (Current Ranks).

    Double Down:

On some weeks during the year, we will enable the ability for doubling down on your 5 and 10 point bets. By clicking the Double Down checkbox, you are doubling your bet, but unlike other points, if you lose that bet those points are subtracted from your final score. This bet is calculated for both the week and season totals.

    Playoffs

Super Bowl Bonus: A 5 point bonus will be given to the one player who 1. picks the super bowl winner and 2. most closely guesses the final score of the game. The winner is determined by adding the two differentials between his guess for each team and that team's actual score (example as above).

    1. Pick the winners of each game by entering a rank from 4 down to 1. For the conference championship week enter combinations of 8-2, 7-3 or 6-4. The Big Game is worth 10 points. For each game you pick correctly, you receive the number of points you ranked for that pick.
    2. There are two bonus picks. Pick the NFL champion team during the first week, and the final score of the Big Game for a tie-breaker and bonus points.
    3. Picks must be sent at least an hour before the kickoff of the first game of each week. Late entries will automatically lose the games missed (2 points for first game, 3 for second, 1 for third, 4 for fourth missed.). Once the pool has been closed for the week, no changes can be made to picks already entered.
    4. Calculate totals to make sure you have entered correctly. You are responsible for checking your picks.

    Side Bets:
Side bets can be placed between any two players with a maximum of 5 total points to be bet by each player during the playoffs, and a maximum 2 points per week. Each bet can be 1 or 2 points. The loser of the bet will have the number of points bet transferred automatically to the winner of the bet.
